Diver Vahe Melkonyan is participating in the “Hero of Our Time” project run by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
His childhood curiosity led Vahe Melkonyan to the Rescue Service, where he has been carrying out search and rescue operations and complex technical diving work since 2005.
“I have always been curious about what lies in the depths of the lake. At first, I used homemade diving equipment, and later, my interest became my profession,” Melkonyan says.
The experienced diver knows that water forgives no mistakes. Working safely requires knowledge, experience and constant vigilance, but the hardest part is the uncertainty involved in search operations.
“What matters most to me is people’s love and appreciation,” Vahe says, emphasising that he has been responding to that appreciation through his work for more than two decades.
