Starting 1 November, Armenia will launch a new system for issuing next-generation biometric passports and identification cards.
The introduction of the new system aims to provide citizens with fast, high-quality services that meet modern standards, enhance the security of identity documents, and establish infrastructure that complies with international standards.

According to Nelly Davtyan, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, with the launch of the new system, citizens will be able to use service offices equipped with modern technologies, while the document issuance process will become more convenient and transparent.

Enhancing the security of identity documents is one of the key areas of the visa liberalisation dialogue between Armenia and the European Union.
